SOLO EXHIBITION PREVIEW: BODY DISTORTED

20 Mar 2018
I am happy to announce that my exhibition is extended until April 26, 2018. You can visit the show and bring your friends and family in Gallery 688 to see my work.

I would like to give my sincerest appreciation to those people who helped and made my exhibit possible. My biggest thanks to my folks: to my mom - Aurora, and aunt Tess, they went to San Francisco to relax but they work so much and helped to the best they can. To my partner, Adi, for making everything possible, amazingly hanged the images for the Act II and always there for me. I would like to say may thanks to the Academy of Art Gallery team - to Kevin, the Gallery Manager, and his team - Vera and Vanessa for the assisting and making the gallery running.

Lastly, to all the people, colleagues, and friends, who visited my opening reception and during the meet and greet. I am happy to inspire and share my work with the world and give a different perspective of my creation. I big shout out to Adrienne Pao and Connie Begg, the director and faculty of Photography Department to let me partake and inspire their photography students. I hope I motivate and impart something valuable to your photography careers.

Thank you very much to all of you.
Gallery 688, Sutter St. San Francisco, CA.
It feels so amazing that all the preparation, planning, and hard work paid off. I was very anxious at first but everything went well as days progress. Don't overthink and have faith in yourself and to those around you that everything will deliver and do what they asked to do. If things go wrong, then make it right.
Check my Facebook, Instagram, and other social media to keep updated on things happening to my work and personal life, and share it too.

There are a ton of preparations that I did to make this show possible. I created a GoFundMe account to crowdfund some of the expenses that I incurred during the production of this project. It is quite expensive and extensive making all the logistics while I am out of the country. Planning accordingly and having patience surely made it all happen.
I would like to say my gracious thanks to all the people who donated, supported, and gave me the confidence to become a better artist. People recognized that I influence them in some manners that I may or may not aware but through my creativity, I gave something priceless that will there for a lifetime.

I would like to recognize these amazing individuals who graciously helped me making my dream into a reality: Sergio Adams, Miguel Saldana, Ellaine Goss, Jeremy Conners, Erin Conners-Goldsmith, Courtney Cordova, Teresita Dizon and Family, Corazon Ponce and Family, Aimee Jauregui Cruz, Abigail and Wacky Jauregui -Delos Trino, and Adriano Ciarrettino.

I also want to say my million thanks to my family in Anaheim who endure my demanding attitude and dealing my long distant rage because of all the stress and worry that I may have. A big shoutout to my parents, Gerry and Aurora Santiago and my ever supportive brother Joseph Paolo and Klarissa, her lovely wife, for making things square away and manage all the thing that I should do. Without you all, my exhibit is not possible.
Another preparation that I did is coordinating with the gallery manager of the Academy of Art, Mr. Kevin Goring. He is very helpful in making everything easy for me and making sure everything is smooth. Working with very professional and experienced individual makes my life a breeze.

For 2 months of preparation. Making the marketing materials are the priorities, like the postcards, invitation, and poster. I also did the logistics, like finding the suppliers and finding the best quality yet affordable on the budget that I have. I contacted 3-5 manufacturers and suppliers just to get the custom frames, archival mat boards, and glass glazing. Then I assemble it all when I arrived in San Francisco. It is hard if you get the materials in different places because you are not sure if it will fit or if the measurement is followed.

I know having this happen can open a door of opportunity for me and my career as a photographer. I may be new being a fine artist but I am experienced in handling very complex situations like this. Just make sure that attention to details is the key and always have options and alternative plans will make you go a long way.
I also went an extra mile, by making a 3D floor plan of the exhibition layout. It is good to visualize the location so you can plan accordingly. Well, I have never been in the location so I am not so aware of how it will look. Well, I am not just playing around, it is not a joke having an exhibition.
